my house is a home, a poem

my house is a home

Greet me at the door

Lights on. Keys at the counter.

The stumbling of footsteps down the stairs

Shoes scatter at my hallway

The sink is fuller than I left it

Knives and spoons.

Fresh laundry and the sound of the shower

We find home in between the lines of sleep and work.

Laugher and warm hugs before bed.

My heart bubbles with joy.
