my heart in my hands, a poem

empty
when you left me.
hollow and cracked.
smiles that felt unnaturally heavy
and a laughter that would not come.

an impasse
that felt impossible to cross
my bridges were made of rolling marbles
they twisted and turned
until my insides were eroded smooth
numbing all flickers of emotion.

just a hollow husk
a shell of myself.

my heart crumbles in my hands.
