embraces, a sonnet

Light falls upon the bed, the rays reaching
It’s warmth is fleeting under the covers
So within dreams grasp I stay lingering
and loitering far from the suns flutters

Arms stretching right with legs curling inward
Fingers trailing over the mattress sheets
Empty and cold, my dreams fold and injured
Wistful thoughts fly, wishes now obsolete

Suddenly feel the vastness of the bed
Haze lifting- knowing it is only I
Alone amongst the soft pillows and threads
Breaking the morning silence I now sigh

But counting the days till your arrival
I await our embraces reprisal
