dot on the horizon, a poem

post clarity musings from a relationship's end that came out of nowhere.

hands shaking
clung to the railing as you walk away
your linens like a cape
blow out behind you
the final curtain

you never looked back
as my boat left the harbour
hands in your pockets as you walk away
my face is wet
why won’t it stop

why won’t it stop
why won’t you stop
turn around
stop

please?

a dot on the horizon
hands outstretched to the sun
salt on my tongue

the boat stops.
my feet planted on the ground
i hold my hands extra tight
and find my feet already knowing
how to move on.
